Aurora Mug

The florid aurora in the Arctic region of Norway always makes people feel amazed: It is astonishing that there is such a wonderful scene in the universe that makes us feel instantly happy.This Aurora Mug is designed to capture this incredible moment, but we had many challenges to make it: First of all, we chose a taper design that features small rim and large base, the outwardly tilted angle can better reflect the gloss of aurora, but a more complex grouting process is required to realize this design.
It took us two years to develop a sort of glaze that gives the mug a gloss closer to aurora when placed under light. This staining process has to be done by hand painting, so each staining operator must be trained up to six months for the sake of color fastness.The body is fired at 1200° in a tunnel kiln to confer the aurora a brilliant, delicate and lustrous color, the higher water absorption rate, the resistance to tea stains and the ease of washing.
A prominent feature is the tailor-made mat originated from a whole piece of North American black walnut wood. Through repeated polishing, the surface of the mat looks delicate and the double taper design of the mug and the mat is perceived even more futuristic. The package is 100%made of recyclable and biodegradable materials and comes with a retractable suede bag.Getting over these complex processes, we present this handicraft that makes you feel very happy.
