„Comma1" and "Comma 2„ are a part of a series of chairs with coushoned rigid cantilever (50x45 cm at 45cm height) attached to the
front legs only. A slot in the middle of the rear part.
is protecting the coccyx. Comma 1 is presenting a seat with a straight front. The front profile of
the Comma 2 seat is concave under the legs to improve the
bloodcirculation and convex in the middle to prevent sliding forward.
The profile of the backrest is accordig to Dr. Akelbrom, inclinated backwards, following the curves of
the backbone – concave with 140 cm radius in the upper part and convex with 13 cm radius below.
The frame is trapezial for more stability to the right and to the left. The material of the back is durable fabric
(like the surface of the seat), spanned between the pipes of the frame placed in it‘s sleaves. It can
also be a mesh, or leather.
The construction is from ALU pipes, but it can be any kind of not heavier an weaker polimeres,
metal, or carbon etc. The frame on the ground allows outdoor use (on sand, grass) , the armrests are
compact and with adjustable position and height.
Functionality and ergonomic were leading design criteria . The oscillating seat combined
with the backrest and armrests is unloading the backbone creating a decompression in the lumbar
area during 1/3 up to 2/3 of the sitting sessions, depending on the adjustment of the featuress.
The spiral transition of the armrest to backrest and the unconventional (a subject of patent) feedering and dumping solutions (Comma 2- a rubber behind the legs, Comma 1 - a sliding elastic band under the seat and rubber buffers in front) together with the comfort level are supposed to make both chairs unique and recognisable.
Last but not least is the cost - efficiency of the solution which is obviously but not randomly a simple
one. The simplification was dominating the second half of the design process targetting to reach a natural harmony between the functionality and the visual impact.
