Archilume’s latest glare-free decorative luminaire is a revolution in the use of innovative OLED (organic light emitting diode) lighting technology. Ovolo’s form is inspired by nature and derived from a bed of river rocks. Minimalist with an ultra-shallow, soft, organic shape, Ovolo encompasses the idea of well-being. Calm, soothing and unencumbered. Ovolo’s warm glow provides a light quality closest to that of natural light.
Ovolo is Archilume’s first OLED technology pendant. Ovolo's housing is fashioned from recyclable aircraft-grade anodized machined aluminum, locally produced by Archilume’s partner vendors. It’s gentle contours and shallow bed provided a great opportunity for the brand to work with the new OLED chip.
Behind Ovolo’s seductive form beats the heart of solid-state lighting technology. Not only is the light source ultra-thin, flexible, lightweight, cool to the touch and free of glare, it is extraordinarily sustainable and energy efficient, significantly reducing power and fuel consumption as well as greenhouse emissions. Constructed from recyclable organic and glass materials, OLED high efficacy solid-state panels result in compact profiles, a reduced manufacturing footprint, and simpler recycling at end-of-life. These panels are 85% organic material and glass, do not contain toxic metals such as mercury. Glare-free and cooler operating temperatures allow placement of lighting fixtures closer to the end-user, reducing the number of fixtures required and overall power requirements. The quality of light mirrors the formal expression of the luminaire - soft, diffused, and comfortable. Ovolo offers a flattering naturally diffuse human-centric light source that provides a soft yet bright full-spectrum illumination without the risk of blue light and flicker thus friendly to our circadian rhythms.
Ovolo is available in several anodized finishes including champagne, black, gold, and silver. The pendant is available with a dimmable 3-watt OLED light source with an output of 200 lumens, 3000K, 90 CRI, R9 >50. With it’s 4.25″ diameter canopy, Ovolo can hang as a single element or be grouped to create an inspiring lighting installation on a grand scale in dining areas, lobbies and stairwells. The ultra-shallow form allows hanging the pendant at lower heights without compromising views, performance, or visibility.
