The design is inspired by the costumes of the “Caretos de Podence”, protagonists of the “Entrudo Chocalheiro” festivities, a tradition of a small Portuguese village, classified as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. These costumes are characterized by hand-dyed sheep wool fringes, arranged in rows, and inspired by the patterns of homemade quilts typical of Trás-os-Montes. The colors yellow, green, and red refer to the Portuguese national flag, establishing a direct link with cultural identity.
Elements of tradition have been carefully reinterpreted in the packaging. The leather “bandoleras” that cross the Caretos' torsos have been reproduced with maximum functional precision, elegantly wrapping around the bottle. The leather is engraved with the client's brand, “Casa Aragão,” as well as the name “Caretos de Podence.”
At the top of the bottle, a special recycled cork was chosen, complemented by a technical metal piece with the customer's brand engraved on it, secured by a leather cord. The wooden box includes a personalized cork handle, functioning both as a transport box and a counter display.
The project results in packaging that tells a story, celebrates Portuguese intangible cultural heritage, and offers a complete sensory experience.
