8x8 Engage is a mobile-first workspace that brings contact-center-grade customer experience tools to every worker across an organization, from frontline and field staff to subject-matter experts and back-office teams. While customer experience platforms have traditionally focused on contact center agents, most customer interactions actually happen outside that environment. These teams often work with fragmented tools, limited context, and no visibility into the customer journey, creating slow handoffs, repeated explanations, and inconsistent service.

Engage was built to close this gap by unifying conversations, context, routing, and collaboration in a single intuitive workspace. Messages from channels like SMS, WhatsApp, and chat appear in a unified inbox with full customer history, journey details, prior interactions, and team notes. Smart routing ensures the right expert or frontline worker receives the request, while real-time context and shared threads prevent information loss. A one-tap video escalation feature enables faster remote troubleshooting, especially for field-based scenarios.

The product was co-designed with customers through interviews, workflow shadowing, co-creation workshops, and internal and external pilots. Research revealed that knowledge workers needed autonomy without sacrificing context; frontline teams needed mobility without losing power or visibility. These insights directly shaped the design: a cleaner mobile layout, simplified transitions between tasks, clearer routing logic, and embedded insights to support quick decision-making.

Engage is purpose-built for non-contact-center users — a space where existing tools fall short. Productivity apps like Teams or Zoom lack customer routing and shared context, while contact center platforms like Genesys and NICE are too complex for occasional support roles. Engage combines the mobility of UC tools with the intelligence of CC platforms in a way that blends seamlessly into existing 8x8 deployments, avoiding rip-and-replace disruptions.

By enabling hybrid work and reducing unnecessary travel for field workers, Engage also supports environmental goals and expands access to equitable service delivery. The platform meets WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and follows privacy-by-design and secure-by-default principles.

With faster resolution, reduced customer effort, and better cross-team visibility, 8x8 Engage helps organizations deliver more consistent, connected, and human customer experiences.
