Bay Collection

Bay Collection designed by Sò Studio are environmentally friendly chair made of recycled polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP). The raw materials encompass a primary color close to pure white, which led to the appearance of the chair like "pinched" from the land, like the soil rooted in the earth with a sense of purity, primitiveness and natural feeling, presenting the pure appearance of the earth and expressing our celebration of earth.

At the same time, we get inspiration from the sculpture works of Henry Moore, and use the sculpture language to shape the curve and shape of the chair and give bay a warm meaning like a hug. In consideration of sustainability, we aspire to present the material with “a second life” by re-integrating the plastics, easily found everywhere, into people’s daily life in a new way and form.

In the end, by putting together different plastic leftovers of PP and PE, re-molding to produce the Bay Collection, we aim to make a brand-new, environment-friendly chair to realize certain kind of re-forming in a sustainable way. Meanwhile, we hope to continue to do what we love through product design, constantly challenge and redefine the use of recycle materials in design. Initially, our idea is to make Bay chair also suitable for public activities and outdoor installations, enriching its functionality and publicity.
