Noto is a reconfigurable E-Ink information display designed to bring digital information into the spaces where it is actually needed. Instead of confining calendars, tasks, meeting schedules, and room information to traditional fixed screens, Noto allows the same physical object to adapt to different environments. It can be mounted on a wall or placed on a desk, while its integrated rotating stand supports both portrait and landscape orientations. Different layouts correspond to different situations. A vertical view can present personal tasks and daily information, while a horizontal layout can display calendars or shared schedules. At the entrance of a meeting room, Noto can provide an immediate view of room availability and upcoming meetings. The same design language extends naturally into personal and shared spaces. Its tri-color E-Ink display uses a restrained black, white, and red visual system, keeping information clear without introducing the visual intensity of a conventional illuminated screen. The paper-like appearance allows Noto to remain visually quiet within its surroundings rather than constantly demanding attention. Noto is powered by three AA batteries, designed to support 1–2 years of use while avoiding the environmental impact associated with disposable lithium-ion batteries. Its E-Ink display requires no continuous illumination to maintain static information, enabling persistent content with very low power consumption. By combining digital flexibility with the familiar visual character of paper, Noto reduces the need for multiple dedicated information devices while maintaining a simple physical presence. Noto transforms E-Ink from a fixed display technology into a flexible information object—one that can move between personal, shared, and spatial contexts while remaining quiet, clear, and purposeful.
