Yum Lab is a cooking education app designed for children aged 12 and above, built around a simple belief: kids are more capable than we give them credit for.
The app teaches real, end-to-end kitchen skills. From scanning the fridge to identify available ingredients, through guided preparation, technique, appliance safety, and clean-up. Three AI features work together to keep kids safe and focused: image recognition identifies ingredients and flags dangerous appliances, triggering mandatory safety video tutorials before use; a hands-free voice assistant guides each step without requiring screen interaction; and a smart recipe-matching engine surfaces what kids can make with what they already have.
When ingredients are missing, children can shop for exactly what a single recipe requires in precise, small amounts, with a parent payment verification system that maintains oversight without removing independence. A personal Skill Tree makes progress visible, leveling up real competencies like knife technique, heat management, and seasoning as each Lab is completed. A peer community lets young chefs share dishes, exchange tips, and stay motivated together.
Yum Lab's visual identity is warm, confident, and age-appropriate, speaking to 12-year-olds as individuals, not children to be managed.
